PEbuzz.com, a Social Network for Gadget Lovers, Attracts 1,000 Members in First Month
Douglas, UK (PRWEB) June 19, 2008 -- Before you throw down a couple hundred or thousand dollars on your next computer, cell phone, or other personal electronics device, you might want to do some research first. Rather than just reading a product description, how about asking a few hundred people who already own that device what they think of it? At a new Web site called PEbuzz.com (http://pebuzz.com), tech enthusiasts can do that and a lot more.
PEbuzz.com, the Internet's first social networking Web site for people who love gadgets, has already attracted more than 1,000 members since its launch last month. At PEbuzz ("personal electronics buzz"), tech enthusiasts can join a social network where they can discuss their favorite consumer electronics devices, create personal Web pages, and share their user reviews with the world.
While the Internet is full of tech sites and social networking sites, PEbuzz wants to offer a unique combination of the two - just like its slogan says: "Connecting people through technology." Here, members meet like-minded people, learn about personal electronics they're interested in, and share their own experiences.
Membership is free. Members receive their own PEbuzz ID and a personal Web page with a blog where they can upload images and maintain a guestbook. They can also create an electronics list of devices they personally own, as well as a wish list of electronics they would like to own or are interested in.
Based on these personal preferences, the site connects members with others who possess, or are interested in, the same personal electronics devices. All members can read each others' electronics reviews, opinions, comments, and leave their own comments. Members can also communicate via a personal messaging (PM) communication center.
Another unique feature at PEbuzz is the "Buzzometer," which allows users to see how much "buzz" is created by different gadgets. The developers at PEbuzz have created a special formula that tracks users' activity - reviews, opinions, comments, ratings, etc. - regarding each device, and generates a single number for that consumer electronics device. The higher the Buzzometer number, the more popular the gadget is.
Overall, PEbuzz is a place "where you talk electronics and the world listens." For instance, when members write reviews of a device, the latest review headlines appear on a list on the home page of PEbuzz. Along with user reviews, visitors can also read the latest consumer electronics news and worldwide product reviews.
"We're seeing an enormous interest from gadget enthusiasts and user engagement with the site," said Andrew Zinin, a member of the PEbuzz.com team. "By giving people a community to share their opinions and learn more about personal electronics, we hope to connect people through the technology they're interested in. Right now we're working very hard on implementing more and more new and interesting features."
In the coming weeks, PEbuzz plans to launch a groups feature, where members can create and participate in their own discussion groups. The PEbuzz team hopes that these discussion groups will help people further develop their networks, socialize more, and learn more about personal electronics.
